Season 8.5 and Event System Revamp

Hi everyone! Season 8.5 is here today and it's bringing a lot of changes with it (patch notes here). Among those changes, and dear to the heart of this blog are changes to the Event System. You may have read the recent devblog regarding this revamp, but one of the major changes is that Cryptic is moving away from the hourly event system that has been in place for two years now and will be changing it up for more daily or weekly events.

What does this mean for SubSpace Agenda? Well, as you may have seen from the large calendar above, I've removed the regular hourly content from the future timeslots. The ongoing weekly content remains, and probably in the future I'll be switching the calendar's default weekly view to a monthly view instead. I may make more format changes here as soon as more information becomes available about upcoming events and we see more details about how these weekly/daily events will unfold.

Pre-Anniversary Giveaway Day 1: Polytrinic Acid Horta

Star Trek Online is turning 4 years old next week, and in preparation for the celebration, they're giving away a free C-Store item each day until the big event (starting on Thursday, 1/30/2014)!!! Each of these items are account unlockable and only available for free one day at a time so make sure to get them while you can

The first item up for grabs is the Polytrinic Acid Horta! This combat pet will burn its way through enemies on your command!

The Polytrinic Acid Horta fed on various ores as it developed. Its silicate geology converted the metals into acids and salts, giving it more powerful acid attacks than a Horta Ally. However, it is not as resilient as other Hortas.

Note: This is a special version of the Horta Combat Pet in that it is an account-wide unlock, and reclaimable if dismissed. It is normally a single-character unlock that must be repurchased if dismissed, traded, etc.
